Dunja Mijatovic, OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, has met with journalists Natallia Radzina, Iryna Khalip, Maryna Koktysh and Svyatlana Kalinkina.

Initiation of proceedings has been denied to the well-known Belarusian lawyer Harry Pahanyajla by the court of Maskouski district of Minsk. He lodged a complaint against actions of the chair of the Central Election Commission Lidziya Yarmoshyna.

Mikhail Bashura fined 500 basic units

An activist of "Tell the Truth!" campaign Mikhail Bashura was fined 500 basic units (Br 17.5 mln). Bashura was found guilty of the accusations presented; however the court limited the punishment to a fine, BelaPAN reports.

According to Eurostat's latest data, Belarus is still among European leaders at consumer price growth.

The biggest rise in consumer prices in comparison with July 2010 was recorded in Belgium (2%), Ukraine, Luxemburg and Malta (1–1.2%); for a period since the beginning of the year – in Malta (6.5%), Romania (5.6%), and Belarus (5.1%), Internet newspaper "My" writes.

Putin refused to bring down gas price for Belarus

Gas prices for Belarus in 2011 are to be in conformity with the earlier signed contract.

As RIA Novosti informs, it has been stated by Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin. Thus, he turned down the request of Minsk which asked to reduce prices for gas in 2011.

In 2010 Gazprom supplies gas at $184 per 1,000 cubic metres. As stated by Minsk earlier, in 2011 price is to reach $210, and Gazprom expected it to grow to $220. All these prices are calculated with a special decreasing coefficient to the average price of gas for European countries.
