Justice Ministry of Belarus is demanding explanations for the oil dispute again


The CIS Economic Court did not consider on the merits the claim of Belarus to Russia on the illegality of levying duties on oil products.

Ministry of Justice as a representative of the Belarusian government in the CIS Economic Court asked the Russian Ministry of Justice to inform on the proposals of the Russian government to settle the question of deliveries of Russian oil to Belarus in extrajudicial order. It is said at the official site of Justice Ministry, BelaPAN writes.

As it was noted in the Justice Ministry, on September 7 the CIS Economic Court did not consider on the merits the claim of Belarus to Russia on the illegality of levying duties on oil products delivered from Russia to Belarus. Russian side declared the desire to consider the dispute out of the court. The Russian side requested to give it the opportunity for further conciliation with the Belarusian side. The court adjourned the hearing until October 7.

According to the Justice Ministry, the Belarusian side has taken some steps to implement the recent decision of the court. Immediately after the hearing on the initiative of Belarusian side the meetings with the plenipotentiaries of Russia took place. It was agreed that "at the initial stage the Russian side would consider the possibility of creating an enabling environment to find extrajudicial solution to the problem".
