Belarusian military men study the possibility of buying jet trainer/light attack aircraft Yak-130 in Russia.

The human rights activist believes that Alyaksandr Lukashenka has in fact committed a constitutional coup in Belarus.

Initiation of proceedings has been denied to the well-known Belarusian lawyer Harry Pahanyajla by the court of Maskouski district of Minsk. He lodged a complaint against actions of the chair of the Central Election Commission Lidziya Yarmoshyna.

The chairman of the legal commission of the Belarusian Helsinki Committee asked the court to declare illegitimate actions of Yarmoshyna in his application to the CEC and compel her to examine his application collegially, and not individually.

The President of Lithuania tried to urge Lukashenka to hold democratic election in Belarus.

Lithuanian president Dalia Grybauskaitė has stated that her country, like the European Union in general, hopes that the presidential election in Belarus would be free and fair, and Belarusian citizens would be offered a right of choice, "Interfax-Zapad" reports.

Belarus is Europe’s price rise leader

According to Eurostat's latest data, Belarus is still among European leaders at consumer price growth.

The biggest rise in consumer prices in comparison with July 2010 was recorded in Belgium (2%), Ukraine, Luxemburg and Malta (1–1.2%); for a period since the beginning of the year – in Malta (6.5%), Romania (5.6%), and Belarus (5.1%), Internet newspaper "My" writes.

Putin refused to bring down gas price for Belarus

Gas prices for Belarus in 2011 are to be in conformity with the earlier signed contract.

As RIA Novosti informs, it has been stated by Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin. Thus, he turned down the request of Minsk which asked to reduce prices for gas in 2011.

In 2010 Gazprom supplies gas at $184 per 1,000 cubic metres. As stated by Minsk earlier, in 2011 price is to reach $210, and Gazprom expected it to grow to $220. All these prices are calculated with a special decreasing coefficient to the average price of gas for European countries.

Supreme Court does not “give opinion on prospects” for capital punishment in Belarus

Death penalty and life sentence are used in isolated cases in Belarus, the Supreme Court believes.
