It was reported on November 22 that three soldiers escaped from a military unit in military town Lyadzishcha (Barysau).
The Ministry of Defense and the Belarusian Military Prosecutor's Office deny this information, BelaPAN reports.
The press service of the Ministry of Defense says this information "was untrue". The Belarusian Prosecutor's Office says there were no incidents like that, three soldiers with assault rifles didn't leave the military unit, all arms stays in the arms storage facilities.
However, the website "Borisov Elektronny" managed to find witnesses of the escape, retail sellers in Lyadishcha town district. The witnesses saw patrols and the runaways themselves.
"You know, if my son was driven into such a condition, I would tear the commander to pieces. They were sitting here under the counter while patrols (at least ten people) were looking for them. I gave them some food and cigarettes. The guys were scared. They eyes were full with tears… My nephew once ran away from a military unit in Moscow… I cannot say if the boys were beaten… No, I didn't see any bruises… But they were not able to tell what had happened to them. They were so scared. They didn't have assault rifles, only knife bayonets… Why did I hide them? I felt pity for them, they are just boys!" one of the sellers told.
