Observers of Radio France Internationale (RFI) mark paranoid unwillingness of Aliaksandr Lukashenko to say goodbye to his rule.
Within many years the Belarusian leader managed to lead Moscow up the garden path, promising union with Russia in the nearest future and get from it 52 bln. USD only for pronouncing words which please ambitions of the Kremlin residents. The forced entry of Belarus into Trilateral Customs Union with Russia and Kazakhstan in practice changed nothing in Minsk fronde in relation to Moscow.
Commenting later visit of Syrian president to Belarus, French observers mark "comic" declaration of Minsk concerning formation of the new geopolitical coalition which aims at uniting Belarus, Syria and Venezuela in some "Trilateral Union".
Among these directions figure, in particular, such topical problem as "Earth remote sensing". The idea of this project, as grandiose as anecdotal, according to a shy confession of Aliaksandr Lukashenko, belongs to Venezuela president Hugo Chávez.
"Sober-minded people, understandable, may express doubt in practical usefulness, all the more so- in viability of the union of three states which are separated by oceans, seas and thousands of kilometers". The thing is, however, in the fact that the leaders of these states are united not at all by geographical factors.
RFI marks, phony trilateral Customs Union is a kind of attempt of trilateral blackmail of Moscow, as "geopolitical crankiness of three presidents could hardly cause consternation somewhere in Washington or European capitals".
