Since the beginning of the year the mortality rate exceeded the birthrate by 17,753.
The population of Belarus as of August 1, 2010 was 9,467.7 thousand, and has decreased by 12,500 persons as compared with the beginning of the year, "Ezhednevnik" informs with the reference to the Belarusian Statistics Ministry.
The population decrease is the result of the mortality rate exceeding the birthrate by 17,753, while the positive migration gain of population was equal to 5,307 persons.
In January-July this year 62,517 children were born in the country (by 1215 persons less than in January-July last year), 80,270 persons died (by 548 persons more). The natural decline in the population was 17,753 persons.
In January-July this year as compared to the same period of the last year the number of registered marriages has dropped by 0.8%, the number of divorces has increased by 0.6%. The correlation between the registered and dissolved marriages has worsened: in January-July 2010 there were 499 divorces to 1000 marriages; and 492 divorces in the same period of the last year.
In January-July 2010 9,098 persons have arrived to the country, 3,791 persons have left the country, the migration gain was 5,307 persons.
