The German volunteers who were detained in Mahilou on March 24 cannot receive their passports back.
On March 26, German volunteers Solwei Schoris and Susana Paul came to the Leninski district militia department in Mahilou to take their passports back. According to Euroradio, Mikhail Luhautsou, an officer in charge of immigration, simply told them to get out.
The German volunteers, who were detained on March 24, were accused of staying at the address that is different from their registration. The militia asked neighbors if they heard the German language. It turned out that the neighbors did not see the Germans.
The girls says that they stay at the registration address and that can be confirmed by the apartment owner. But the militia said the apartment owner was missing. The German girls refused to sign a statement that they stay at a different address.
"We demanded an interpreter, because we don't speak fluent Russian and we refused to sign. They lost patience, they didn't know what to do. They called for their chief, he came and ordered us to get out," volunteer Solwei Schoris said.
The volunteers didn't receive their passports back. Instead, the girls have a certificate that they violate the law. However, militia doesn't tell which law has been violated.
We remind that the Germans came to Mahilou as volunteers to work with physically-challenged children. Susan Pail's visa expires on Monday and she was supposed to leave Belarus.
