Organizers of the festival "Magnificat" were put before a choice: either they exclude the film "Forbidden Christ" from the program, or they will have problems.
The film "Forbidden Christ" was excluded from the program "Magnificat-2010" after the telephone call of the Commissioner for Religious and Ethnic Affairs Leanid Hulyaka to the director of the festival, stage director Yury Huruliou. This was told to an Internet newspaper "We" by the creator of the film "Forbidden Christ", Co-chairman of the Belarusian Christian Democracy Alyaksei Shein.
According to the words of Shein, a choice was offered to the director of the festival: either the film of Co-Chairman of BCD is excluded from the program, or the conduct of future festivals "Magnificat" will be a problem.
Hulyaka told Huruliou, that my film had not been approved by state experts in religions affairs, i.e. had not passed some expertise, - Alyaksei Shein said.
Co-Chairman of BCD will not insist on clarification of the causes of prohibition of the film demonstration.
"I consider the existence of the unique film festival in this situation is more important, then the show of my film", - Shein said.
The International Festival of Christian films "Magnificat-2010" takes place in Gluboksky district for the sixth time already.
The movie "Forbidden Christ", presented to the audience in January of 2009, narrates about Evangelical Church, which – like other Christian confessions in BSSR – felt strong pressure of the authorities, and sometimes –total repressions. But, in spite of all obstacles, the church remained, including and thanks to the courage of tens and hundreds of Christian leaders, pastors and believers.
