Brother for brother

Brother of Vitsebsk activist Syarhei Kavalenka was arrested for six days for he held on to a white-red-white flag for some seconds.

BelaPAN learnt from Paval Sevyarynets, a co-chairman of the organizing committee on creating the party Belarusian Christian Democracy, that Vital Kavalenka, brother of Vitsebsk activist of the Conservative Christian Party BPF Syarhei Kavalenka, was arrested for six days.

He was detained on April 20 on a far-fetched accusation of disorderly conduct – he allegedly was urinating in not permitted places. In real fact, Vital Kavalenka was detained after a national flag had appeared over the militia department where his brother was kept.

The footage demonstrated to the court on April 21 shows that Vital Kavalenka had held a flag for some seconds. "The court found him guilty of participating in an unauthorized action and sentenced to six days of arrest," Sevyarynts said.

We remind that Syarhei Kavalenka got seven days of arrest on April 21. He was accused of holding an unauthorized action near the Kastrychnitski district on April 20, when the activist raised a national white-red-white flag.
